Take One Leave One clothes swap event will launch in Leeds on Saturday

Take One Leave One Leeds launches on Saturday (20 Feb), to help vulnerable people in the city during one of the coldest winters in recent memory.

The Take One Leave One campaign aims to provide warm clothing to those who need it by setting up a rail of donations in the city centre that anyone can take from.

The rail is being organised by volunteers Dan Petch and Angela Dugdale, who both wanted to help those in need and get as many people involved as they could.

Leeds artists’ work takes city centre back to the 70s in outdoor gallery

Photos of Leeds in the 1970s have taken over six poster drums in an outdoor trail throughout the city centre.

Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors awarded Dark Sky Reserve status

The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors national parks have both been granted Dark Sky Reserve status.

The designation from the International Dark-Sky Association means they are protected areas known for their starry nights and nocturnal environments.

Combined, the two parks cover 3500 sq km of northern England, making the area one of the largest in Europe to be simultaneously designated.

Woman’s Hour presenter Jane Garvey has said she is proud of the continuing discussions she sparked surrounding equal pay at the BBC.

In a livestreamed interview at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week, the Radio 4 host discussed both equal pay at the BBC and the media, and equal pay battles in wider society.

Leeds companies to provide security presence after calls to make Headingley alleyway safer

A local events company is working in collaboration with a security company to prevent further attacks along an alleyway in Headingley.

Late Monday night, directors from Fresh2Death and True Security Solutions decided to work together to put a security man at each end of the alleyway running next to Headingley Stadium, to prevent any further reported sexual assaults and muggings.
